Picking Cherries
1976. Cardboard, oil. 115×87 cm.
Petronele Gerlikiene said: “The trees are covered in red cherries in summer – when the sky is blue. I’m delighted. Fir trees grow so tall and lean that their tips break. There’s a woman; she’s raised her hands above her head and is holding a bowl while the girl is standing on a ladder and picking cherries. There is a man and a woman swimming in the lake. If a man is afraid, he can grab hold of a calf’s tail out of fear.”
